On 12 August 2011 the Lorenzini Naturamica photovoltaic system was inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Province of Mantua Alessandro Pastacci and other prominent officials.

With this facility, the company Lorenzini Naturamica adds another fundamental step in a process always careful to the respect and protection of nature.

The photovoltaic system is developed on approximately 7,200 square meters of the roof of the company buildings and has an installed capacity of 841.45 kWp.

The production for the first year was around 843 133 kWh, while the expected production for the next 30 years will come to 22,258,708 kWh. The positive effects of the plant on the territory are considerable because, in addition to not subtract arable areas, the issue of 12,461,996 Kg of carbon dioxide over the 30 years will be avoided.

Lorenzini Naturamica® is self sustained from an energetic point of view

Lorenzini Naturamica® is getting more and more green

In September 2014, the company Lorenzini Naturamica® has launched a program to improve energy efficiency of the heating of some of the greenhouses used to grow melons.

The purpose of this operation is to produce heat for heating of greenhouses using biomass (wood chips): the use of biomass for energy purposes does not contribute to aggravate the greenhouse effect, since the amount of carbon dioxide released during the decomposition, whether done naturally or as a result of energy conversion processes (although through combustion), is equivalent to that absorbed during the growth of the biomass itself.

So if biomass burned is replaced with new biomass, there is no net contribution to the increase in the level of CO2 in the atmosphere.

In December 2014, the construction of new boilers for heat production was almost complete and was part of the continuing search for an agricultural production “clean” and respectful of the Environment. In numbers: 4 boilers, fired with biomass (wood chips) coming from areas not far from the company, able to heat 187,610 square meters of greenhouses, for an estimated annual savings of CO2 equal to 33,791 Tons.

The company intends to continue its program of energy efficiency, using instruments and enacting behaviors necessary to achieve the ISO 50001: 2011 Certification governing Systems Energy Management and specifying the requirements that a management system of energy (ENMS / SGE) must have, enabling the organization to have a systematic approach for continuous improvement of energy performance, taking into account the legal requirements and other information relating to significant energetic aspects.

The Rule therefore defines the requirements applicable to the use and consumption of energy, including the activities of:

purchase for equipment

and the processes and personnel that contribute to energy performance.

The factors taken into account are those that form the energy performance and that are controlled / influenced by the organization. The standard does not set specific criteria for energy performance.

It ‘s a voluntary membership, supported in the national and European legislation. This certification is in addition to other long since achieved (ISO 9001: 2008 ISO 9002 already, Agroqualità, Globalgap).
